Barcelona Mini Break

Well the reason I've been rather quiet lately is because I went on holiday to Barcelona to stay with a friend who's recently moved there, and ended up being really unwell with blood poisoning!!

Not to dwell on it too much but I was taken into hospital and kept in as a precaution for 3 nights. I've now witnessed first hand how hard medical staff work, but I'm hoping its not an experience I'll have to repeat any time soon!

Anyway, back to something more cheerful :)

It was my first time visiting Barcelona and I loved it. It's a very vibrant city and the architecture is so interesting and unique. We did all the typical touristy Gaudi things, like Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, and to the top of Monserrat in a cable car.

We did non-stop walking, I was absolutely shattered when I got back.

I've been signed off work and am on crutches :( Spent my birthday in bed for the first time ever, but in all honesty I could have spent it in hospital so I'm grateful for that. Went out for a quiet family dinner, and I did have a crayola themed night out planned (yes, really!) but that's been postponed until next weekend when I'm off the crutches and putting my dancing shoes back on! Can't wait!

New York & Las Vegas

So...we meet again.

Firstly, I'd like to apologise for the lack of action since my first post. As I mentioned, my circumstances have recently changed, and I basically decided to broaden my horizons and do something I really wanted to do. This new phase of life is going to be similar to a bucket list, but a lot less morbid!

So first on my list on my way to new empowerment...

NEW. YORK. NEW. YORK.

This has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I've grown up on films like Home Alone 2 and imagined myself staying at the Plaza Hotel, taking a horse & cart trip around Central Park, shopping on 5th Ave and looking out at the views of Manhattan from the top of the Empire State Building. I can't even put into words how excited I was to hold my ticket in my hand and know I was on my way!

More recently, as so many millions of other girls have, I've become a Sex & The City Addict! I just adore that show, the fashion, the cocktails, the lifestyle...I want it all. The package we decided to go for offered the option to pay extra and also include a trip to Las Vegas - how could we refuse?!

The highlights for me:

NYC

  • visiting Carrie's brownstone in Greenwich Village & having a cupcake from Magnolia Bakery <3
  • the panoramic view of Manhattan
  • walking across Brooklyn Bridge
  • jumping on the big piano just like in the film 'Big'

VEGAS

  • helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon
  • old Vegas at night
  • the shopping mall with a real life thunder & lightning light show on the ceiling
  • watching the Bellagio Fountains show set to classical music
Here are a few pics from my trip, it was everything I imagined and more...

Hi There

Hi there!

Well this seems like as good a place as any to start with a simple introduction...

I'm Lucy, I'm 26...and I just enjoy life. I probably should be more specific here, but I simply feel like I'm figuring life out, one day at a time.

This is something I've been considering doing for a while, I've started a few lifestyle blogs before but life has got in the way! This time, I'm hoping to indulge my passion for writing, eating, talking and well, living...and putting it down in words!

Having recently had a lot of upheaval in my life, I've decided to embrace the change and the new chapter I'm facing, and start my blog, properly. No time like the present!

I hope you enjoy :)
