Life Lately Through My Camera Roll

Things have been a bit sporadic around here lately, adult life seems to have a nasty habit of getting really hectic. It's been a really busy few weeks, so here's a snapshot of a few ways I've been filling my time:

1. I went to the cinema to see 'Me Before You' - I loved it! I haven't read the book which is unusual for me as I usually prefer to read the book before seeing the film, but I really enjoyed it. I needed a latte afterwards to perk me up.

2. I bought a new car last week which I'm absolutely in love with. I've been a Fiat 500 enthusiast for years (my Mum had an original which I loved) and I used to drive a bright yellow Fiat Seicento, so I needed some more Fiat love in my life! I've had 2 Mini's in the meantime so it's a bit of a change, but that beautiful pastel min green interior cheers me up every time I hop in!

3. I took my friend along to my new favourite haunt, Voltaire (I wrote a full post about it here) and we both had burgers which were to die for. Mine was topped with mushrooms in a garlic and white wine sauce which I wasn't sure would work, but it did. Oh it did.

4. Some friends and I went out for cocktails the other weekend, and it was well needed after a busy few weeks. The weather was still nice and sunny then, so going on a warm, bright evening was a treat.

5. A night out selfie. Why not? I picked up my burnt orange dress from TK Maxx for about £15, what a bargain! And so, so comfy.

6. To mop up the alcohol from the night before, some Sunday afternoon tapas was just what the doctor ordered. I had grilled aubergine, garlic mushrooms and potatas bravas. Mmmm

7. We went for a walk to burn off the tapas and it was absolutely glorious out, with not a cloud in the sky and boiling hot. I stumbled upon my dream house, a cottage on the beach with the most amazing garden filled with flowers. House goals. definitely.

8. Apparently it was National Ice Cream Day the other week and quite frankly I don't need an excuse.

9. I've started watching 'Stranger Things' on Netflix and I'm really enjoying it. It's not my usual cup of tea, but I'm hooked! I'm halfway through now and I love the 80's soundtrack!

July Wishlist

Hi lovelies!
I've been a little bit spend happy lately, and splashed out a little more than I should be, so this wishlist is literally that, a wish list. I really want to get my mitts on all of these beauties, but I'm going to be kind to my purse for a little longer.
Unless I suddenly need an excuse like, uh, it's Monday or something. Etc )

This PJ set is oh so cute, and perfect for this warm weather we've been having. I love the fun palm print! It also comes in a playsuit but for the midnight wee the tee and shorts is more practical I think.

Like all bloggers I'm a big fan of marble, and this phone case from Oliver Bonas is chic and stylish. I don't like my phone cases to be too vibrant, and I love the simplicity of this.

I have a weird thing about carafes, I love them! Maybe it's because they remind me of holidays, but either way this beautiful gold cactus print one from Oliver Bonas is far too pretty to be hidden away. I'm torn between this and the confetti print one. Decisions.

Yet another from Oliver Bonas, I love these cute little spoons. I love cocktails and these would add a little touch of glamour to home made cocktails.

I've been lusting after a pair of gold heels for a while now, and I'm so over platforms. These pointed gold mules are so effortlessly stylish, and aren't ridiculously high either.

I don't need any excuse to browse the Kikki K website and I fell in love with this cute hourglass from the new Pause collection. I totally don't need it, but I'm a sucker for stationary and this would look perfect on my desk.

Again from Kikki K, this cup is adorable. I love the speckled porcelain and anything scandi ticks the right boxes for me. I'll forever have too many cups.

I love rose gold, and this bangle from Not On The High Street is beautiful. I really love the saying engraved on it, and it's so delicate and pretty.

I saw these soft silicone cases in the Apple Store and really like them, they feel amazing to touch and also I think the pastel colours are really pretty. I can't decide whether I prefer lilac or blue though, but they're both lovely.

What do you think of my picks?

Lush Bath Bombs / Mini Review

I'm a bit of bath bomb junkie and can never resist buying them from Lush. I had a huge binge of around the end of last year, I think I saw the Christmas range and went a bit mad! Having so many I decided to use up my collection of existing bath bombs (you can read that here) before starting on the next lot (OCD anyone?!) but now I'm finally all done and actually have zero left!
Here's my somewhat belated mini review of them:

Dashing Santa Bath Bomb
I really liked this one, it foamed up nicely and smelt gorgeous. It wasn't very bubbly, but it left my skin smelling really nice afterwards.

Peeping Santa Bubbleroon
This was another one I liked, although it seems like so long ago now I can barely remember it! It turned my bath water a lovely orange colour and smelt like tangerine, also very bubbly!

Five Gold Rings Bubble Bar
I LOVED the look of this one and couldn't wait to use it, I did consider being a bit economical and using one ring at a time, then thought nah and threw them all in! This was lovely and glittery, and while I can't quite put my finger on the smell, it was really lovely and bubbly.

Star Dust Bath Bomb
This star shape looks pretty boring and I wasn't really expecting much from it, but I was pleasantly surprised! It smelt really clean and fresh and left my skin feeling nice afterwards. Plus it contains tiny little blue stars inside!

Snowball Bath Melt
To be honest, this one didn't really do much for me, it's only tiny and was also cheap so I didn't have particularly high hopes, and while it was quite pleasant, it wasn't really memorable.

Butterbear Bath Bomb
This is another hidden gem - although it looks cute I expected it to be quite non-descript but it made my skin incredibly silky and soft! It's also one of the cheaper bath bombs Lush sell. For softness I would definitely use this one again.

Onto the non-Christmassy products now, and this is one that I've heard mixed reviews on. Personally I liked it, it fizzed beautifully in the water and smelt divine, the colour was slightly murky and it wasn't very bubbly but it didn't really put me off.

This is probably my favourite of the bunch, and my first purchase from the Lush Kitchen. It didn't disappoint, I love the flower petals and the beautiful pastel pink colour it turned the water. Gorgeous, I'd definitely get it again.

Last but not least, Intergalactic is a bit of a cult favourite. I did like it, although I wouldn't say it was my absolute favourite. Again a lovely colour, smell and nice and bubbly, and the way it looked in the water as it dissolved was beautiful.

Have you tried any of the products?

Five Faves

Hi lovelies!
So I'm back with a few more of my current favourites - to be honest I haven't really been buying too much in the way of cosmetics and skincare at the moment (thank God!) but all of these are fairly new additions.
I've definitely honed my beauty regime lately, and keep coming back to the same old tried and tested products.

As I've mentioned before, I'm a huge hand cream fan and am always smothering my paws. This one from Lush smells absolutely delicious, it contains orange and neroli which combine to make a smell good enough to eat. I keep this next to my bed and will definitely be re-purchasing.

I think everyone loves the Vitamin E range, and for good reason as the products are amazing but gentle. I use this mask a couple of times a week, it says you can wipe it away but personally I prefer to sleep in it, my skin feels so soft the next morning.

This is the newest addition, which I've been lusting after ever since I first tried it in a sample last year. I don't like heavy eye products that get into my eyes and make them sticky and greasy overnight, this one is just right. I pat a very small amount on before bed and let it work its magic (I got a bargain off Ebay too!)

I really wasn't sure of this at first, but it's definitely a grower. Sometimes I put it on wet hair before drying, but mostly I put it on dry hair as a pre-treatment and leave for 10 minutes before rinsing and shampooing. I couldn't use it on my clean dry hair because its so fine I think it would just make it look lank, but I guess it depends on your hair texture. Combining this with banana shampoo produces the BEST smell!

I've been using this moisturiser for a while now and have recently purchased my second bottle which is testament to how good I find it. It absorbs really quickly and smells amazing, I always feel sleepy once I've put it on! My skin is nourished and hydrated after using it too.

Dreamy Outdoor Baths

If there's one thing in life I love it's a good bath. In fact, I was thinking the other day about what my instant happiness fix is, and soaking in the bath immediately came to mind.
Whenever I'm at a hotel I can never wait to hop into the tub (preferably filled to the brim with bubbles) and relax and unwind. So when I saw this article on Secret Escapes I knew it was my mission in life to find the ultimate outdoor bath, that's definitely one for the bucket list!
This breathtaking selection of baths all over the world definitely lifted my end-of-weekend blues...but has totally sent my wanderlust into overdrive!

I hope these have brightened up your week!

A Sunday Post / Eight

As I sit typing this, I'm wondering how on earth it's the 10th of July?! I'm wearing long sleeved PJ's, drinking tea and huddled under a blanket, surely this isn't right?
I was looking through my posts this morning and I realised it's been well over a month since my last Sunday post so it seemed well overdue!

1. Going back several weeks now, I had the treat of a bumper bestie weekend. Despite living in the same area life gets busy and so I don't always get to see Jen as much as I'd like. We went out for an amazing late birthday dinner at Signatures and I haven't laughed so much in ages! I also stayed at theirs over the weekend and drank wine, watched rubbish TV and had an amazing brunch. I love weekends like that.

2.  I haven't really been feeling myself lately, I feel stuck in a rut and my mood has been lower than usual. I normally snap out of these mindsets quite quickly but this time I've been wallowing more and I'm struggling to see my own worth and what it is that I deserve. I've had a touch of bloggers block but I've been spending loads of time outside and photography always helps me feel better, I've been posting a lot of photos on Instagram but it seems really spammy lately - my followers keep going up and down drastically and I'm being bombarded with spam comments. Is anyone else finding it really annoying?

3. I feel like all I've done this past month is eat! I've definitely eaten out far too many times. How cute are these milkshakes though?! On the walk back to the car from the cafe we had them in, we walked past a field filled with beautiful wildflowers; wildflowers are my absolute favourite.

4. I've had quite a lot of rare alone time, which has felt odd as I'm usually surrounded by people, but it's felt really nice. I had some lazy breakfast in bed and caught up on some reading which I haven't done much of for a while. I've also had a humongous clear out which left me feeling weirdly lost and bittersweet (I wrote a post all about it) so everything feels a lot tidier and more organised which is a good feeling.

5. At the end of last month it was the 2 year anniversary of my Nana's passing, I really can't believe it's been two years because it only seems like yesterday. We always try and turn it into something positive rather than spending the day dwelling on it, so our little tradition has been to handpick a bunch of flowers, take them down to the beach at sunset and put them into the water. It was an absolute beautiful evening and for the last two years we've had the most beautifully glorious sunsets on that day, so I like to think thats a sign!

6. Bringing us up a little more to speed, last weekend I went out with work which was actually really fun, and having morning cuddles with this one was a lovely way to wake up. I also went for a walk and talk with some friends, where we really put the world to rights.

7. Finally (this post  has ended up being HUGE) I got the good news that I'd passed my uni course (I was studying psychology) so that was a massive relief as I was convinced I'd done terribly. I've also really got in to House of Cards on Netflix - does anyone else watch it? I've been binge watching and I've just started on season 3, I love it!
My Mum and I went for a spa day on Friday where we both had a facial using ESPA products, it was gorgeous and just what the doctor ordered, my skin is looking really good now too. To finish off a lovely relaxing day we went for a walk on the beach with some fish & chips, I really love simple pleasures, they're what life's all about.

What's In My Handbag?

Hi lovelies!
It's been a while since I've done a post like this, and I always really enjoy nosing through reading others posts!
My bag is something that lately seems to contain everything but the kitchen sink, so I've been trying to cart a lot less around with me as it doesn't do my back any good to heave such a weight around all the time.

This is what's in my handbag:

I'm a bit of a stationary addict, and as I do a lot of work on the road I tend to have a lot on me at all times. I carry my gorgeous pink Kikki K Compendium containing a little notebook, some pens, my work mobile and any paperwork I need; having all those organised in one place has definitely helped keep my bag tidier. I also have a large notebook, this pretty Buddha one is from TK Maxx, they always have beautiful stationary. On that note, my two diaries (one personal, one work) are both also from TK Maxx.

Make-up is also an essential for me, although I only take a tiny make-up bag with me, as I couldn't possibly find room for alllll the stuff I put on my face in the morning! I always have lipstick, eyeliner, brow pencil, mascara and hand cream with me, as well as powder for the days when I'm looking a bit shiny.
I always have some deodorant in my bag to keep me smelling fresh all day; I also like to spritz on some perfume during the day, and always have a small bottle in my bag. At the moment I'm using Armani 'She' which is just the right size, and even better because it doesn't come in a glass bottle, as I'd be terrified of it breaking and spilling all over my stuff.

Finally my essential are my purse and car keys, which I wouldn't get very far without! I also always have a pack of tissues, a hair brush and spare hair tie with me for those frequent bad hair days. How cute is my little 'Lucy' Hello Kitty brush by the way?! Blatantly meant for children but too adorable to resist!

Whats in your handbag?

The Perfect Multi Occasion Boots

I absolutely love boots, they're one of my weaknesses. I always find myself coveting ankle boots in particular. Recently, I was browsing in TK Maxx when the nude coloured boots caught my eye and it was love at first sight. As I was trying them on, I spotted the same boots in grey and black.
I've been eyeing up these Topshop boots since Christmas (there's also a pair with tortoiseshell heels that I can't find on the website any more) but really couldn't justify the £80 price tag, and the TK Maxx boots are a fraction of the price at just £24.99! I also found these boots on the Topshop site, and I think these a pretty good dupe for them. Buying all 3 pairs (I know, I know) actually still ended up being cheaper than one pair in Topshop, and they're identical.

I adore all 3 colours and can't wait to start wearing them, they're so versatile and they'll be perfect for wear in both summer and winter, and can be worn with jeans or a dress so I know they're a good investment.
Which almost helps me justify buying 3 pairs of the same boot. Almost.

What do you think of these boots?

Recent reads

Hi lovelies!
After turning down books for months to binge-watch on Netflix, I've found that I've really gotten back into reading lately. Before going away on our mini-break recently I picked up a couple of new books on my Kindle to read in the hotel, and have flown through them already as I was hooked from the start (sitting in the bath to read until the water was cold basically!)
Here's what I've been reading:

Amazon recommended this psychological thriller to me based on two of my previous purchases, The Girl On The Train and Gone Girl; so if you've read either of those books chances are you'll enjoy this one. I whizzed through this in a day and a half, I just couldn't put it down.
Grace and Jack seem like the perfect couple, he has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You might not want to like them, but you do. You'd like to get to know Grace better, but it's difficult because Grace and Jack are never apart. Some might call this true love, but others might ask why Grace never answers the phone or how she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn't work. Sometimes the perfect marriage is the perfect lie.

This book was also a recommendation, one of the cheaper books on Amazon as it's the author's debut novel, and what a debut! I was so hooked on this book I almost considered calling in sick just so I could finish it! It's got a great twist to the story too.
They say every marriage has its secrets, but no one sees what happens behind closed doors.
And sometimes those doors should never be opened.
Sal and Charlie are married, they love each other but they aren't happy. Sal cannot leave, no matter what Charlie does. No matter how much it hurts.

I'd highly recommend both these books, especially as they're such a bargain on Amazon at the moment. I love tense, compelling thrillers!

Have you read either of these books?
I'd love to hear any recommendations for anything similar!
